Why nutrition, specifically now

Treatment changes how food works for you. Your plan should change with it.

Nausea, taste changes, and fatigue are not something to push through quietly. They're clinical symptoms with clinical responses — and left unaddressed, they can affect how well your body tolerates treatment.

Appetite loss

We build small, calorie- and protein-dense meal patterns that don't require a large appetite to matter.

Taste and smell changes

Common with chemotherapy and radiation. We adjust seasoning, temperature, and texture to find what still tastes like food.

Nausea and food aversion

Timing meals around treatment cycles and infusion days, not against them.

Unintended weight loss

Tracked against your treatment calendar, not a generic chart, so a plateau is caught early.

Swallowing difficulty

Texture-modified plans for head, neck, and esophageal treatment, coordinated with speech-language pathology when needed.

Fatigue and low energy

Nutrition strategies that support strength for daily function, not just lab values on paper.

How the program works

One protocol, four stages — adjusted every time your treatment does.

This isn't a single meal plan handed to you once. It's a standing relationship with a dietitian who already knows your regimen.

01

Metabolic and symptom assessment

A 60-minute intake covering diagnosis, treatment plan, lab values, current eating patterns, and the symptoms already affecting you. We request records directly from your oncology team with your consent.

Week 1 · In-person or telehealth
02

Personalized nutrition plan

A written plan matched to your treatment calendar — what to eat on infusion days versus recovery days, protein and calorie targets, and specific responses for the symptoms you're already managing.

Week 1–2 · Delivered and reviewed together
03

Active treatment support

Weekly or biweekly check-ins through chemotherapy, radiation, or post-surgical recovery. Your plan is revised as side effects, labs, or your treatment protocol change.

Throughout active treatment · Weekly touchpoints
04

Survivorship and recovery

Once active treatment ends, we shift toward rebuilding strength, restoring a normal relationship with food, and long-term nutrition patterns tied to reducing recurrence risk.

Ongoing · Monthly, then quarterly

"I ask how someone's actually living day to day before I ask what they're eating. A plan only works if it fits their real routine, not the one on paper."
"
My dietitian asked what infusion days actually felt like before she asked what I was eating. That order mattered more than I expected it to.

Getting started

What to expect before your first visit.

No referral required

You can self-refer into the program. We'll still coordinate with your oncology team once you're enrolled.

Most major insurance accepted

Medical nutrition therapy for an active cancer diagnosis is covered by most plans. Our team verifies your benefits before your first visit.

Telehealth available for every stage

If treatment side effects make travel difficult on a given week, your check-in moves to video without losing continuity.

Family and caregivers are welcome

Whoever is doing the cooking is welcome in the room — planning around real kitchens gets better results than planning alone.

Ready when you are

Speak with a care coordinator

Same-week appointments are usually available. Reach out however is easiest for you.

Questions

What patients ask before their first visit

Do I need a referral from my oncologist? +

No. You can enroll directly. Once you're in the program, we request your records and coordinate with your oncology team with your written consent.

Will this interfere with my treatment schedule? +

No — visits are scheduled around your infusion, radiation, or surgical calendar, and can move to telehealth on weeks when travel is difficult.

Can nutrition help reduce chemotherapy side effects? +

Yes. Nutrition can help manage:
Nausea
Vomiting
Constipation
Diarrhea
Mouth sores
Taste changes
Fatigue
Weight loss

What if my side effects change week to week? +

That's expected. Your plan is revised at each check-in based on current symptoms and labs, not held to what was written at intake.

Can my caregiver join sessions? +

Yes. We encourage whoever is preparing your meals to join, whether that's in person or on the same telehealth call.
